BACKGROUND

At about age twelve Jaco made his first leather item, a bridle. Thereafter other items such as holsters and belts followed. In 1998 he decided to make his wife, Riëtte, a western saddle. With only a book on how to make western saddles and limited tools he made his first western saddle.

SADDLES

Every saddle is a unique piece and there’s almost no limitations on the design of a saddle. Our base price for a saddle is currently R 30 000. The standard waiting time is about 24 months and a deposit of 50% is payable upfront.

Some extras you can add to a basic saddle include:

Silver trimmings (horn, swell, cantle, skirt corners, saddle string tips etc.)
Tooling (geometrical, flower, figure etc. done by hand)
Padded seat
Bucking rolls
Rawhide bindings
Silver lancing on cantle, swell & horn
Aluminum engraved stirrips, wooden stirrups covered with brass plate etc.
